The direct descendant of the original Land Rover, refined but never softened.

Introduced in 1983 as the One Ten and 1984 as the Ninety (named for their wheelbase in inches), the range adopted the "Defender" name in 1990 to distinguish it from the new Discovery. It carried the Series III's basic formula into the modern era with coil-spring suspension and permanent four-wheel drive.

The original luxury SUV, engineered to be as capable off-road as it was comfortable on it.

Launched in 1970, the Range Rover created an entirely new vehicle category by pairing genuine off-road capability with car-like ride comfort — and, eventually, genuine luxury appointments that the earliest utilitarian-trimmed examples never had.

The utilitarian original that proved a go-anywhere vehicle didn't need to be complicated.

Introduced in 1948 as a simple farm and utility vehicle influenced partly by the wartime Willys Jeep, the Series Land Rover evolved gradually over three generations while retaining its basic aluminum-bodied, ladder-frame formula — simplicity that made it genuinely repairable anywhere in the world.
