DeSoto's halo performance car — America's first production car offered exclusively with a high-performance engine as standard equipment.

Introduced for 1956 to capitalize on the horsepower race sweeping the industry, the Adventurer paired DeSoto's largest available Hemi V8 with gold-accented trim and unique badging, positioning it above the rest of the DeSoto lineup as the brand's genuine performance flagship. It marked a notable first for the era — a mainstream American car built specifically as a performance model rather than a performance option on an existing car.
