History
The 1956 Adventurer arrived with a 320-hp Hemi V8 as standard equipment — a genuinely significant figure for the era, and unusual in that no lower-output engine was offered on the model at all.
For 1957, the Adventurer gained DeSoto's dramatic new tailfin styling alongside the rest of the lineup, and a convertible body style joined the hardtop coupe for the first time.
The final 1959 Adventurer, DeSoto's last major redesign before the brand's decline and 1961 discontinuation, offered the largest engine and most elaborate trim of the series before the model itself faded along with DeSoto's broader sales collapse in the early 1960s.
