Nash's unibody flagship — home to the "Airflyte" streamlined styling and reclining "twin bed" seats that were years ahead of the industry.

Redesigned for 1949 with dramatically rounded "Airflyte" bodywork and genuine unibody construction — unusual for a full-size American car of the era — the Ambassador served as Nash's senior line through the company's final years as an independent automaker and into the early AMC merger period. Its combination of aerodynamic styling, class-leading fuel economy for its size, and genuinely novel features like reclining front seats that folded into a bed gave it a distinct identity against bigger, more conventional Big Three rivals.

An unlikely transatlantic sports car — American Nash power, Donald Healey engineering, and Pininfarina styling.

Born from a chance meeting between Nash president George Mason and Donald Healey aboard an ocean liner, the Nash-Healey combined a Nash straight-six or six-cylinder engine with a chassis engineered by Healey — the same Donald Healey behind the Austin-Healey — and, from 1952, bodywork styled by Pininfarina in Italy. It stands as one of the earliest genuine international collaborations in the American sports car market, years before such partnerships became common.
