1979 Pontiac WS6 Trans Am
Fair$19,900
The Firebird was built by Pontiac between 1967 and 2002. The second-generation debut for the 1970 model year was delayed until February 26, 1970 and was designated as a 1970½ model. Replacing the Coke bottle styling was a more swoopy body style, with the top of the rear window line going almost straight down to the lip of the trunk. A distinctive, slant-nose facelift occurred in 1977 and was redone again somewhat in 1979. This particular example is a PHS Certified and retains its original numbers matching High-Performance W72 6.6L engine and T10 4-speed manual transmission. It is equipped with the WS6 Special Performance Package which added a beefed-up suspension, wider wheels and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes making this a very rare car. Not only that but it is highly optioned with A/C, remote deck lid release, Soft-Ray tint, T-Tops, variable speed windshield wipers, tilt steering as well as power locks, power windows and a power antenna. The original AM/FM 8 track player has been replaced with a newer stereo and newer speakers. Other than the stereo and the wear items everything on this car is original including the Heritage Brown paint and the Camel Tan interior. Within the last year it has received a new brake booster, new front calipers, new brake pads, a new water pump and it sounds just plain nasty ripping through its newer Ram Air 3 manifolds and 2.5” performance exhaust. There is some visible rust, the tail panel is rusty, there is a small hole in the passenger side frame rail but it is structurally sound, there are also some holes in the floor boards but not bad for being a T-top car. It does leak a little oil but it runs great. In fact, in was just in the Dells which is 4 hours away and made it there and back without any issues. The only other thing to be aware of is that the climate controls are not currently working. Based on its present condition we rank this is a #4 car as it is safe to drive and could easily be a daily driver. It is however something that someone should restore as it has a High Retail Value of $109,800. In its present condition we would appraise it at the current JD Power Low Retail Value which is $42,900. As you can see, we are serious about finding a new home for this T/A and have priced her accordingly so if you like what you see time is of the essence!
