1966 Ford A Code Mustang Convertible

Excellent

$36,500

1966 Ford Mustang Convertible - A Code The current owner purchased this car several years ago from an estate and it is believed that owner was the second owner, having owned it since the 90's. The first owner was a Mr. Salafia who purchased the car brand new on January 14, 1966 from Campbell Ford in Waturbury CT. It has been a CT car it's entire life, but from all appearances, was hardly driven and very well taken care of. Receipts show that in the 90's the car had just 18,000 miles and the odometer currently shows just about 33000. We know that the second owner had the car painted in it's original Dark Blue Metallic and it shows immaculately. There were two hairline scratches I found in the paint (both noted in the photos) and they are light enough that they may polish out. The interior is all original, except for the carpets. Originally outfitted from the factory with the Mid Performance A code 289 4 barrel engine, producing 225 HP and a three speed manual, the current owner has done a bunch of work to the car as well. New to the car is a dual stainless exhaust, complete original NOS power steering, correct iron case, top loader 4 speed manual trans., new clutch, new white top, new carpets and new 4 wheel drum brakes. Looking for better streetability from the 4 speed, the limited slip rear was rebuilt with 3.25-1 gears, changed up from the 3.0-1. The current owner is thinning down a small collection and this is one of the chosen to find a new home. Pull the choke, tap the gas a couple times, turn the key and the the small block Ford V8 rumbles to life through the dual exhaust. It has stainless Street Max mufflers so the rumble isn't obnoxious but still there and let's you know it means business when you stomp on the throttle. The gears shift smoothly, the steering is typical light power steering of the 60's. The drum brakes, while not power, stop the lightweight convertible with ease. The tires are Michelin XH4 Radials in 195/75/R14 size. The original Michelin pamphlet from 1994 is still with the car, date code of 1993-1994 is on the tires. They are in great condition, however, most would want to change them out for new. All the gauges work, the blinkers, headlights (both high and low beams), horn, wipers and aftermarket radio all work. The original radio and original air cleaner and valve covers come with the car, the current owner replaced them with chrome. Release the clamps that hold the top in place, flip the lever and the top quickly drops into place for open air, wind in the hair driving. Flip the lever in the other direction and the top comes right up .. less then 30 seconds from open to closed. The original interior is in excellent condition, but does show a little of it's age .. some deep cleaning/detailing would bring it up to match the gorgeous paint and top. Under the hood is clean and detailed, pretty much show ready. The trunk the same, with the original jack and trunk mat. It does have an aftermarket Pony themed jack bag. The underside is rust free, but not as clean as the rest of the car. It is a testament to the true 33,131 miles on the car. Absolute turn key, like new, low mileage, A code Mustang Convertible. The asking price is $36,500.
