Plymouth Belvedere

The Plymouth Belvedere was the B-body intermediate that served as the foundation for Plymouth's entire muscle car lineup. The Belvedere II and Satellite trims offered the full engine range including the legendary 426 HEMI, making them genuine high-performance machines that are often overlooked in favor of the later Road Runner. The 1965–66 Belvedere with the 426 Hemi is one of the most important muscle cars of the era.
History
Introduced in 1965 on Plymouth's B-body platform, the Belvedere replaced the 1964 intermediate lineup and immediately offered the street version of the 426 HEMI — which had debuted in NASCAR the year before. The Belvedere II and Satellite models with the 426 were factory racing machines barely disguised for street use. By 1967, the GTX debuted as the premium Plymouth performance model on the Belvedere platform. The Road Runner arrived in 1968 as a budget performance alternative, both on the same B-body.

426 HEMI Belvedere (1965–66)

HEMI authentication is essential
The broadcast sheet and fender tag are the primary documents. A numbers-matching HEMI is worth multiples of a replacement-engine car.
B-body rust is well-understood
Lower quarters, trunk floor, and floor pans are the primary rust areas. All are well-supported by reproduction parts.
The 1965–66 cars are especially rare
First-year HEMI street cars were produced in very small numbers. Verify any claimed 1965–66 HEMI car through Chrysler registry services.
