Oldsmobile Jetstar I
Oldsmobile's personal luxury rocket β the 330 V8 in a full-size two-seater.
The Jetstar I was Oldsmobile's personal luxury performance coupe, positioned to offer sporty two-seat-style seating and a performance-tuned 330 V8 in Olds' full-size body. Built for just two model years and never produced in large numbers, it sits at the intersection of personal luxury and performance in a way that was unusual for its era and makes it a genuine collectible rarity today.
History
Oldsmobile introduced the Jetstar I in 1964 to fill the personal luxury coupe space that the Buick Riviera was dominating. The Jetstar I used a bucket-seat interior with a center console and the 330 V8 tuned to 325 hp β a healthy output for the time. Sales were modest; the car competed against the Riviera and the Pontiac Grand Prix without the name recognition of either. Production ended after 1965 with relatively few units built, making survivors genuinely scarce.

What to Look for When Buying
Key inspection points from experienced collectors.
Very low production β parts are scarce
Olds-specific trim and body parts for the Jetstar I are difficult to source. Buy the best-condition car you can find.
Oldsmobile engines require specific sourcing
Olds V8 engines use different bolt patterns than Chevy or Buick β ensure correct components are present.
Undervalued as a collectible
The Jetstar I is significantly cheaper than a Riviera of the same era despite similar luxury credentials and rarer production. A sleeper buy.
