Mercury Marauder

The Marauder name appeared in two distinct performance eras: the 1963–65 NASCAR-homologation fastback on the full-size Galaxie platform, and the 1969–70 revival as a full-size personal luxury coupe. The original 427-powered Marauders were among the fastest production cars sold in America in 1963–64 and dominated NASCAR before the factory muscle car wars shifted to mid-size cars.
History
Ford's 1963 NASCAR campaign used the full-size Galaxie fastback (Marauder) extensively. Mercury offered the same car with the Marauder badge and 427 dual-quad engine producing 425 hp — identical to the Galaxie 500 in performance but with Mercury's different trim and badging. These cars were competitive NASCAR machines sold directly to the public.
The 1969–70 Marauder X-100 was a revival built on the Monterey chassis — a full-size personal luxury coupe with a 429 CJ or 429 SCJ engine producing up to 375 hp. The X-100 is a comfortable, fast, and largely forgotten performance car that represents exceptional value today.
