Sharing styling cues with its more famous 300SL sibling but built on a unibody platform with a smaller four-cylinder engine, the 190SL offered genuine Mercedes-Benz quality and style in a more accessible, everyday-usable package.
History
Introduced alongside the 300SL Roadster at the 1954 New York Auto Show, the 190SL was aimed at buyers who wanted the glamour of the SL line without the 300SL's extreme performance or price.
It remained in production through 1963 with only minor changes, prized for its solid build quality and elegant proportions rather than outright speed.
