The Nova began as an economy compact and evolved into one of the most practical and affordable muscle cars. Its light weight, strong aftermarket support, and compatibility with the full Chevrolet engine lineup have made it a perennial favorite with performance enthusiasts and drag racers.
History
The Nova launched in 1962 as the Chevy II Nova, intended as a conventional economy car. The second generation (1966–67) was the last of the compact Nova. The third generation (1968–74) is the most collectible — it adopted the Camaro's F-body suspension geometry and could be ordered with V8 engines up to the 396. The SS package and the 375 hp L78 396 made it a formidable street car in a lightweight package. The fourth generation (1975–79) lacks collector interest.

Rockers and floor pans are the primary rust issues. Budget for replacement on most project cars.
