Chevrolet 210

The Bel Air's more affordable sibling β€” same iconic Tri-Five styling, a fraction of the price.

The Two-Ten (210) was the mid-range trim of Chevrolet's full-size "Tri-Five" lineup, sitting between the base 150 and the top-tier Bel Air. It shares the same body, chassis, and engine options as the more famous Bel Air, making it an appealing lower-cost entry into Tri-Five ownership for buyers who care more about the era's iconic styling and V8 options than about having the top trim badge.

History

Introduced for 1953 alongside the 150 and Bel Air as Chevrolet's completely redesigned postwar full-size line, the 210 offered more brightwork and interior trim than the stripped-down 150 while remaining well below the Bel Air's price and equipment level.

The 1955 introduction of Chevrolet's new small-block V8 transformed the entire Tri-Five lineup, the 210 included β€” a 210 with the 265 V8 offered genuine performance at a fraction of a loaded Bel Air's price, and two-door 210 sedans in particular became popular budget-conscious hot rod and drag-race platforms in period.

Notable Versions

210 Delray

A sportier 1955–57 sub-trim with unique interior trim, originally offered as a nod to the show car of the same name.

210 with 283 "Power Pack" (1957)

Dual four-barrel or fuel-injected 283 V8 options brought genuine performance to the mid-trim car, popular with period racers seeking less weight than a loaded Bel Air.

What to Look for When Buying

Key inspection points from experienced collectors.

Confirm trim badging matches the actual specification

150/210/Bel Air trim pieces were frequently swapped over the decades β€” verify the car's trim level is consistent throughout, not a mix of parts.

Floor pans, trunk floor, and lower quarters are common rust areas

Same body as the Bel Air, so the same rust-prone areas apply β€” inspect closely regardless of trim level.

Numbers-matching is less critical to value than on a Bel Air

The 210 market is more driver-focused; a healthy, period-correct V8 swap is broadly accepted and doesn't hurt value the way it would on a numbers-matching Bel Air.
